Priory Thurston
Known as Priory at Thurston, this dedicated provision currently supports Year 9 students with cognition and learning needs, providing tailored education in two classes, each accommodating up to 12 students with a dedicated teacher and support assistant.
Leadership, teaching resources, and curriculum planning are supported by Priory School, conveniently located just 10 minutes away. The curriculum closely follows the Year 9 timetable at Priory School, ensuring consistency and continuity. Additionally, students from Priory at Thurston regularly join their peers at the main Priory School campus for special events and curriculum-focused days at least once every half-term, enhancing their sense of community and integration.
This initiative demonstrates Priory School’s ongoing collaboration with the local authority to bridge specialist educational support whilst permanent inclusive provisions are developed in mainstream schools.
