Exams (SEND)

Every student deserves the opportunity to show what they know and can do. We recognise that some learners may need additional support during examinations, and we are committed to ensuring they have access to the arrangements and guidance they need to succeed.

Whether you’re a student, parent, carer or member of staff, this page provides information about SEND exam support, access arrangements, important dates and results. Our dedicated teams are here to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible, helping every learner feel prepared and supported every step of the way.

Post Results Services – Summer 2026 (SEND)

Clerical check (Deadline: 24th September 2026)

A check of all clerical procedures which lead to the issue of a result. This service includes the following checks:

  • That all parts of the exam paper have been marked
  • Marks have been recorded/added up correctly
  • Special consideration has been applied (where appropriate)
  • The grade boundaries have been applied accurately

Exam boards aim to provide an outcome to a clerical check request within 10 calendar days.  Please be aware that your marks can go down as well as up. Requests cannot normally be withdrawn once submitted to the awarding body.

Review of marking (Deadline: 24th September 2026)

This is a review of the original marking to ensure that the agreed mark scheme has been applied correctly. It will also include a clerical check. The awarding body will have trained its reviewers to conduct reviews of marking accurately and consistently.

If you request a review of marking there are three possible outcomes: –

  • Your original mark will be confirmed as correct and there will be no change to your grade
  • Your original mark may be raised and this may or may not result in a change of grade
  • Your original mark may be lowered and this may or may not result in a change of grade

Awarding bodies aim to provide an outcome of a review of marking request within 30 calendar days.

Priority copy of the marked paper (Deadline: 3rd September 2026)

Access to a priority copy of the marked paper is for use when a candidate wants to see their exam paper before deciding whether to ask for a review of marking. The exam board will provide a PDF copy of the marked paper to the Examinations Officer within a week of the request. A copy of the marked paper will then be emailed to you securely.

Non-priority copy of marked paper (Deadline: 30th October 2026)

Access to the original marked paper is for use when a candidate wants to use their exam paper for learning purposes. If you are considering requesting a review of marking, you are advised to request a priority copy of the marked paper instead. The exam boards aim to send your original marked paper within 6 weeks of your request. Please note that if you make an original marked paper request for a paper that was marked online, a printed copy of the online marked paper will be sent.
