
Governance and Policies
The Eastern Education Group (“Group”) is akin to a charitable, corporate group. The Group members work together in furtherance of their common educational, public benefit, charitable objects.
The Group members include:
- West Suffolk College – a statutory Further Education Corporation (“Corporation”) and EEG Services Limited – a subsidiary of West Suffolk College and
- Eastern Education Group Trust – a Multi-Academy Trust (“Trust”) which includes three primary schools, five SEND schools and two sixth form colleges:
- Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds
- Chalk Hill in Sudbury
- Duke of Lancaster School in Fakenham
- Exning Primary School in Exning
- One Sixth Form College in Ipswich
- Priory School in Bury St Edmunds
- Stanton Primary School in Bury St Edmunds
- Stone Lodge Academy in Ipswich
- Sunrise Academy in Lowestoft
- Woolpit Primary Academy in Woolpit
The Corporation sponsored the establishment of the Trust in 2015 and operate as one all-through education institution to achieve the Group’s strategic plan.
The Corporation and Trust have substantial alignment of their governance arrangements and have appointed common individuals for key governance and leadership roles:
- Chair – Elton D’Souza
- Vice Chairs – Martin Chatt (Corporation and Trust), Mark Searcey (Corporation only), Sue Daley (Trust only)
- Chief Executive – Nikos Savvas OBE
- Chief Financial Officer – Bhupendra Pattni
- Governance Professional – Suzannah Gales
Several Group-wide governance committees have been established to efficiently oversee Group operations run by the Group executive structure.
