Eastern Education Group continued with their mission of wanting to become the most sustainable college in the country by hosting an event based around eco-friendly practices within the hair and beauty sector.
The occasion took place at Edmunds Restaurant that is situated inside the grounds of West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday 2 April 2025.
The exclusive networking event was part of the Go Green networking series and saw industry professionals gather to hear insightful talks from local and national big hitters including Green Salon Collective and Langham Clinic.
The idea was to explore innovative, eco-conscious solutions within hair, beauty and beyond.

Emily Streatfeild is an art and design lecturer and Go Green Event Co-ordinator for Eastern Education Group. Emily said: “We brought together the local community and education and had a range of different speakers encouraging green approaches to hair and beauty in salons, such as recycling hair and foils, lowering your carbon footprint and the social impact that can be had. It was a really exciting event that told us how we can all move forward in a more sustainable way.
“Speaking more generally, all of the Go Green events are about making sure the next generation are prepared for climate change and the aim is to try to stop it becoming more of an issue in the future than it currently is today.”

Sasha Peggs from Langham Clinic spoke about her commitment to sustainability. She said: “I’ve been sustainable since I was about eight or nine when I used to go to Denmark as a child and my business before Langham Clinic was called Eco Salon. It (sustainability) has always been the only way.
“It’s a lifelong passion, I was recycling before recycling and my message to the general public is that sustainability can save you money and it’s something that anyone can do. I think what the college is doing is brilliant.”
Food was provided by Edmunds Restaurant at this event.
The next event will take place at Edmunds Restaurant, West Suffolk College on Wednesday 14 May 2025 and will be based on the logistics and procurement industries – exploring greener supply chains.
