Hope Horsman, 31, from Bury St Edmunds, was over the moon to learn she passed GCSE Maths and Biology at the University and Professional Development Centre (UPDC) at West Suffolk College.
Hope, who works and is a mum to two little girls (aged four and nine), has been trying to pass her Maths GCSE for a number of years to begin her path into teaching. With the help of “great parents and great friends who supported me”, Hope is now able to embark on the next step of her journey.
After previously missing the pass mark on her Maths by only a couple of marks, Hope is “thrilled with a high mark, but all I wanted was to pass”. She said: “I can’t thank Emma, my tutor enough, and Tom, my maths tutor as well.”
Hope is now exploring the possibility of enrolling for the BA(Hons) Early Childhood Studies at the University and Professional Development Centre in Bury St Edmunds. Her advice to others: “I’d recommend the University and Professional Development Centre to anyone else in my position. The teachers, they’re so supportive, the courses are really good, it’s very well organised.”
