Students from The Duke of Lancaster school in Fakenham have been involved in a series of eggcellent fundraising activities to raise money for a charity ahead of Easter Sunday.
The youngsters did so as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
To create the cash boost, they sold hot chocolate, made pancakes, organised a tombola and created an Easter Egg hunt on behalf of Fitzroy – The Maltings.
Thanks to their efforts, they made £292.43 that will go to support a benevolent cause that offers a range of services for adults with learning disabilities, including those with autism, complex mental health support needs and acquired brain injuries.
One of the students involved in the fundraising was Lewis Hambling. The year 11 student said: “I enjoyed making and selling hot chocolates and the Easter Egg Hunt activity we ran. It was really fun knowing it was for a good cause.”
Danielle Poyser from the school is a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant and Duke of Edinburgh Fundraising Lead. Danielle said: “I am immensely proud of how much hard work our students have put into every fundraiser that we have held.”
Toby Sutherland is the Deputy Manager at Fitzroy – The Maltings. Toby said: “It is with immense gratitude that we acknowledge the generous donation from The Duke of Lancaster School. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about how the money had been raised. The funds so kindly donated to us here at The Maltings will enable us to push forward with our garden renovation project.
“The newly refurbished garden will become a relaxation space on many levels. This will enable the space to be adapted and changed to suit the needs of that specific day and individual for their ultimate benefit. Once again, we send huge thanks once again to all at The Duke of Lancaster School.”
