Little City at Duke of Lancaster

In March, our Primary students enjoyed an exciting and memorable day when Little City visited Duke of Lancaster. The whole event created a real buzz around school, and it was wonderful to see every child so engaged and enthusiastic.

Little City is a mobile, miniature role‑play town designed especially for young learners. It brings a beautifully crafted “mini world” to schools, with realistic areas such as a shop, building site, hair salon, medical centre and post office. This immersive environment allows children to step into real‑life roles, explore the world around them and learn through meaningful play.

Throughout the visit, every student had the chance to get involved. They took part in imaginative role‑play, practised important life skills and explored possible future careers in a setting that was both structured and fun. The sessions encouraged independence, problem‑solving and confidence, giving children the freedom to test out ideas and make sense of everyday life situations.

A highlight of the day was seeing how positively the children interacted with each other. As they moved through different areas of Little City, they naturally communicated, shared ideas, negotiated roles and supported their friends. This kind of play is incredibly valuable for developing communication and interaction skills, helping students build social understanding, teamwork and the confidence to engage with others in a calm and supportive environment.

The event provided a rich learning experience and plenty of smiles. We are very proud of how much our students gained from the visit. It was truly learning through play at its very best.
