Our website uses cookies – these are small text files that are placed on your device to help this website to provide a better user experience. Types of Cookies We Use

1. Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable basic functionalities such as page navigation and access to secure areas of the website.

2. Performance Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. This data helps us improve our website’s performance.

3. Third-Party Cookies

We also use third-party cookies to enhance your experience. Below are the specific tools we use and the cookies associated with them:

Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager to manage various tracking and marketing tags on our website without modifying the code directly. This tool helps us deploy the following:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4):
    • _ga: Used to distinguish users (expires after 2 years).
    • _gid: Used to distinguish users (expires after 24 hours).
    • _gat: Used to throttle request rate (expires after 1 minute).

Our website sets “first party” cookies through its use of Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to provide us with non-personal site analytics, which in turn help us improve this website. Google Analytics tracking uses cookies in order to provide meaningful reports about web site visitors’ but they do not collect personal data about you. Google Analytics sets or updates cookies only to collect data required for the reports. Additionally, Google Analytics only uses first-party cookies. This means that all cookies set by Google Analytics cannot be altered or retrieved by any service on any domain other than www.easterneducationgroup.ac.uk.

ClickDimensions

ClickDimensions is a marketing automation software that we use as part of our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. It helps us in designing emails that we send to our subscribers and allows subscribers to easily unsubscribe from receiving any more emails from us if they choose to do so. When you click on a link from an email, we have sent to the college website, the system is able to see which link you have clicked on.

Crazy Egg

Crazy Egg is a feedback tool that helps us understand how users interact with our website. It uses the following cookies:

  • _ceg.s: Tracks the session of the user (expires after 1 year).
  • _ceg.u: Identifies unique users (expires after 1 year).
  • _ceg.c: Collects data on user interactions (expires after 1 year).

These cookies allow us to analyse user behaviour and improve our website’s usability.

Userway

Userway is an accessibility tool that helps us ensure our website is usable for all visitors. It may set the following cookies:

  • userway_cookie: Remembers user preferences for accessibility features (expires after 1 year).
  • userway_session: Tracks user sessions for accessibility adjustments (expires at the end of the session).

These cookies help us provide a more accessible experience for all users.

Meta Pixel

We use the Meta Pixel to track conversions and retarget users with sponsored adverts on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. The pixel collects helps us understand user interactions with our ads and website. This conversion tracking helps us measure the return on investment of our Facebook and Instagram sponsored adverts by reporting on the actions people take after viewing those ads. Advertisers can create pixels that track conversions, add them to the pages of their website where the conversions will happen, and then track these conversions back to ads they are running on Facebook and Instagram. We use the conversion pixel to retarget adverts towards people who have visited the college website on occasion.
