From Stoker’s Dracula to Shelley’s Frankenstein and Stevenson’s Mr Hyde, the Gothic genre has been fascinated with the creation of the monstrous. What social forces shaped this obsession, what does it tell us about the human psyche both then and now.
Bio:
Robin Herne is Course Leader for Sociology at the University and Professional Development Centre, as well as a storyteller, poet, artist, and broadcaster. Robin has published poetry, fiction, and academic work, and is a founding member of Clan Ogma and the Ipswich Pagan Council. He was also honoured as the first Chief Bard of the Fens. His lectures blend scholarship with creativity, bringing history and belief systems vividly to life.Read less
