How do we view animals – and what does that say about us? This lecture explores the legal, ethical, and social standing of non-human animals through sociological and psychological lenses. From debates around animal rights and personhood to the evolving role of animals in human society, discover how our relationships with other species reflect deeper cultural values and moral questions.
Bio
Robin Herne is Course Leader for Sociology at the University and Professional Development Centre, as well as a storyteller, poet, artist, and broadcaster. Robin has published poetry, fiction, and academic work, and is a founding member of Clan Ogma and the Ipswich Pagan Council. He was also honoured as the first Chief Bard of the Fens. His lectures blend scholarship with creativity, bringing history and belief systems vividly to life.
