Trauma Informed Practice
Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) is embedded in the work of all SEND schools and provision.
It supports our aspiration to make all our decisions based on positive outcomes for our students. It’s our culture, our approach, and signifies our commitment from everyone involved with SEND to respond to the needs of each and every one of our students.
Therapy for all SEND students

Our therapy team works across all our SEND schools, offering a wide range of support, including:
- Art therapy
- Outdoor learning
- Music therapy
- NHS Speech and Language Therapy
- Sand play, puppet play, and Lego therapy
Trauma-Informed Practice is fundamental to the ethos of all our SEND schools and provisions. It guides our decisions, ensuring every action we take benefits our students’ wellbeing and development.
Being a Trauma-Informed school isn’t a separate initiative or something delivered by only a few individuals. It is central to our culture, our approach, and a commitment embraced by every member of our community. From caretakers, catering staff, and administrators, to play leaders, teaching assistants, and teachers – everyone contributes to creating an environment that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of every student.
We are dedicated to ongoing staff training in Trauma-Informed Schools (TIS), therapeutic practices, and the Motional tool.
Through our partnership with the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education, we’ve integrated art, play, puppet, Lego, outdoor, and sand play therapies into our daily support, along with mindfulness, sensory regulation, and therapeutic conversations.
We also utilise Motional, a specialised tool designed to promote emotional wellbeing and mental health, enabling students to overcome barriers and engage fully in their learning and life experiences.
