Musical concert extravaganza with Battle of the Bands and Open Mic Night at One Sixth Form College

This term we have had two successful music events at two local venues. Our first concert was the Open Mic Night which was held at St Thomas The Apostle Church in January. This was a magical evening in a beautiful setting where our students were able to perform to friends and family acoustically. We heard a wide variety of songs from across the decades during the evening. We would like to thank the vicar, Rachel, and her team of volunteers for allowing our students to perform at the church.

At the end of February, we held a Battle of the Bands competition at The Church, St Stephen’s in Ipswich organised by the Music Ambassadors. Five bands – Asynthetic, Not A Chance, Condoyt, The Detour and Aviation performed to a large audience and three judges from the local music industry. There was a real showcase of musical talent from both Year 12 and 13 during the evening. Congratulations to the overall winners Not A Chance, runners up The Detour and audience vote winners Aviation. Thank you to Andertons Music, Music World, Ipswich Music Day, Stowmarket Carnival and University Studies at WSC for donating prizes for the winning bands.

Our next events are the Spring Concert on Wednesday 22nd April 2026 at 7pm and our end of year Music Performance showcase at the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket on Thursday 18th June 2026.
