Emily, 18, from Bury St Edmunds, achieved A* grades in Graphic Communication and English Literature, and an A in Film Studies, while studying at Abbeygate Sixth Form College (ASFC).
She will now go on to read English at the University of Cambridge. “I’m really excited about university life,” she said.
For Emily, one of the highlights of her time at Abbeygate was the freedom to follow her interests. “I’ve really enjoyed it and I feel like it’s given me a good chance to explore what I love across all of my subjects. There’s a good amount of coursework, so I get some freedom to follow what is interesting to me – that’s what makes learning here really enjoyable.”
The support she received from staff also made a lasting impression. “I received a lot of teacher support, which I’m really thankful for,” she said.
Outside the classroom, Emily threw herself into college life, even taking on a leadership role. “I’ve really enjoyed the clubs – they’ve been quite fulfilling. I’ve run a few, which has been a great chance to meet new people. The tabletop role-playing society was brilliant; I made a lot of friends through that.”
To anyone considering enrolling at Abbeygate, Emily had no hesitation in recommending it. “It’s a really good college with really good support. I’ve really enjoyed my time here.”
