In April, the Music department at One hosted their annual Spring Concert. This featured performances from students across the Music and Performing Arts courses at the college.
All the college ensembles performed – Covers Band 1 and 2, Jazz Band, String Group, Choir – as well as lots of numbers from student bands, solos and duos across the evening to a sell out audience. The evening was a wonderful showcase of music from across many genres and ended with a finale of Where Is My Husband by Rae which was an incredible ending to a fantastic evening of music.
In June, we held the end of year Music Performance showcase at the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket, once again to a sold out audience. This is always a fantastic end to the year for the music students and we had a host of songs from across the decades and some original material performed too. A massive thank you to the John Peel Centre for hosting us and to Anthony and Lily, our amazing technicians, who ensure our live events always run so smoothly.
We have also said goodbye to our Year 13 musicians who are off to various destinations to study music around the country and a special mention to Eliza Berger (pictured below) who has received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, America. Congratulations and good luck to them all.
