Julie first worked at EEG in 2008 running the laundry in hospitality. As it was a termly contract, it balanced with her family. During her time, she completed the access to humanities course. This sparked a lasting passion for learning. Although she had to leave for full-time work, her desire to return never faded. 8 years later, she rejoined EEG in the finance team as a purchase ledger finance assistant. 7 years on, she now proudly serves as a manager- grateful to be part of such a special organisation.
What made you want to come back to EEG?
I was drawn to its strong reputation and the opportunity to grow alongside it.
Do you have any family connections at EEG?
My son went through school links doing mechanics and he then went on to complete an apprenticeship. He gained so much knowledge and the feedback he received from tutors was excellent. Today- he is a full-time mechanic and is doing incredibly well!
Can you recall any memorable experiences you’ve had while working here?
There have been many memorable moments, but some of our gatherings like the Christmas and Summer parties truly stand out. Not many companies still support events like these, and I do believe that they play a role in strengthening our sense of community and support. I am also proud to have completed the IEMA course and the License to Lead programme- both very meaningful milestones in my career.
As we mark our 100th anniversary, is there a message you would like to share?
Keep doing what you’re doing. It is such a special place, always striving to improve and create a great learning environment for the society of tomorrow.
And finally, do you have any advice for future staff and students of EEG?
This is absolutely the best place to be if you want to be part of something special.
