Fin Longfoot – 100 Voices

Fin is a current student at Abbeygate Sixth form, studying maths, physics and economics for his A-Levels. He also works for the group in a customer service and communications role – an opportunity backed by CEO Nikos Savvas – enabling him to experience Eastern Education Group from both a student and staff perspective. He has gained valuable life experience which he hopes to use to get a head start on his future career. Now, Fin is heading into Year 13, hoping to achieve top grades in his A-Levels.

What made you join Eastern Education Group?

Eastern Education Group offered an adult learning environment and a taste of independence for me. Furthermore, it had one of the highest A*-C grades for A-Level results in the area. I began my time at Eastern Education Group in September of 2024, studying maths, physics and economics at Abbeygate Sixth Form. Around halfway through the school year, a student job role working at the reception of the University and Professional Development Centre was sent out to me via email. I applied and got the job, working evenings during the week. I found out shortly after that the CEO of EEG, Nikos Savvas, had helped push for the job role to be created. I felt so supported by all my colleagues and teachers during my first year and I can’t wait for my second. This summer, I have also been given the opportunity to work with the comms team. This job has given me valuable work experience that I can use to apply to universities and begin a career. I am extremely grateful to EEG for giving me so many opportunities within the company to help me succeed in my education.

Do you have any special memories from your time with us (so far)?

A special memory of my time at Eastern Education Group so far was getting my predicted grades back after my mock results. I was well supported during my mock exams and I received very good results. My teachers, Dominic Nice, Mike Pickard, Robin Miller and Chris Witts, taught me everything I needed to know and went the extra mile for all of their students to ensure our success.

When they offered me a job role within the company, I was overjoyed. A professional working environment at such a young age is really useful for someone like me to build experience and start earning money.

Having the dual role of both student and staff member has enabled me to form lasting friendships with colleague and peers. The team at UPDC – Tracy Murray, Nathan Woolacott-Crow, Brogan Jordan, Nicola Richmond and Daniel Connor – have all been very welcoming.

What do you intend to go onto to do after college?

I am now looking to apply for a degree-apprenticeship in finance or go to university to study either economics or physics.

Is there a message you would like to share as we celebrate our 100 years of history?

Happy Birthday to Eastern Education Group, here is to 100 more years of empowering students and changing lives!

Lastly, do you have any advice for future students and staff at EEG?

Enjoy your time at Eastern Education Group. Build relationships with your colleagues and peers, work as hard as you can, enjoy your time and succeed.
