Joshua Talbot is a former student of Conservatoire East at West Suffolk College. Studying the musical theatre course shaped his love for the acting industry which he is now proudly part of. His time at the college was filled with incredible experiences which gave him valuable insight into the world of performing arts.
What made you want to study at West Suffolk College?
I chose to apply to West Suffolk College as it was undoubtedly the best course in my area, offering a diverse range of lessons with so many opportunities to perform in shows held every term. The practicality of the course allowed me to gain experience in performing in front of audiences and inspired me to pursue my passion for dance which is something I never took seriously until I was shown the right techniques and encouragement to push myself to be my best. This left a lasting impact within myself as I gained so much confidence.
Who or what helped you the most during your time at West Suffolk College?
I would particularly like to thank Erica – the performing arts head for being such a shining light in teaching, bringing creativity and joy to every play and teaching me how to effectively use improv in so many jobs. As well as a huge thanks to Rob for inspiring me to dance and always cheering me on. Thank you again for the laughs and life skills!
How did the college help you to take your next steps?
I feel incredibly fortunate to have pursued my dream of attending drama school and becoming a fully-fledged actor; a journey that was only made possible by the invaluable skills and confidence I gained through Conservatoire East. Within my three years of dedicated education, I have since spent two remarkable years as a working actor with opportunities to immerse myself into the dynamic world of performing. I am eagerly embracing what lies ahead with hope and determination.
